The Rapala Shadow Rap is Not Your Average Jerkbait

For being one of the most established brands in fishing, Rapala sure knows how to innovate. Their standard baits have been popular for generations but they keep coming out with new ideas and the latest is the Shadow Rap. Prior to last week's Bassmaster Classic they were teasing fishermen everywhere about what was to come. I had a chance to look at and touch these new baits at the Classic Expo and there is much more than meets the eye.

This bait has a unique action for a jerkbait and darts side to side while hardly moving forward. It mimics a baitfish slowly dying. Watch the video below for proof that this is not your average jerkbait.

Featuring a minnow body profile, flat sides and metallic finish with textured scales, the Shadow Rap is designed to target bass and other gamefish in two-to-four feet of water. The Shadow Rap Deep targets fish in four-to-eight feet. Both models come armed with three No. 6 VMC Black Nickel Round Bend Hooks and are available in 14 color patterns: Albino Shiner, Blue Back Herring, Blue Ghost, Bone, Bud, Carbon, Clown, Ghost, Ghost Shiner, Moss Back Shiner, Olive Green, Purpledescent, Silver and Yellow Perch. Each measures 4 3/8 inches and weighs 7/16 of an ounce.
