My favorite rod is the Shimano Cumara

produced, every element of the Cumulus Casting Rod Series was designed
with low weight in mind." The lightest of these rods weighs just 2.7 ounces! That's barely heavier than a couple flippin' weights. I'm really interested in trying one of these rods out. Tackle Tour has more details which can be found here. I really don't know how you can improve on the Cumara, but for fishing rods, lighter is better.
