Jackall Adds Wolak to Pro Staff

Jackall Lures, a leading innovator of high performance fishing tackle, announced today that they have signed Bassmaster Elite Series pro Dave Wolak to represent the company and work on product development.

Next month Wolak will compete in his fifth Bassmaster Classic. Over the course of his relatively young professional career, he has amassed nearly $900,000 in BASS winnings. His career with BASS has been highlighted by two victories, one at the all-star 2006 Bassmaster American on Lake Wylie and more recently at the 2010 Bassmaster Northern Open on Lake Champlain. He is widely regarded as one of the most versatile young anglers on tour.

“I’m excited to work with Jackall going forward,” Wolak said. “They are incredibly innovative. Not only do they use cutting edge technology, but they are also renowned for developing entirely new techniques.”

Curt Arakawa, who runs the United States operations for Jackall, was thrilled to announce that Wolak had joined his team. “Dave is extremely well-rounded,” he said. “He’s an accomplished fisherman and is very knowledgeable about the industry. We look forward to getting him involved in testing new products for the US market. In fact, I have already devised some projects that are right up his alley. His participation will bring immediate credibility to those new lures.”

Wolak, a noted tackle tinkerer, is pleased that he’ll have a chance to contribute to Jackall’s US product lineup. “Conceptualizing new products and helping to improve existing products is the most sought after opportunity for any professional angler who is passionate about the tackle he or she uses,” he stated.

Jackall was founded by legendary Japanese designer Seiji Kato, who over the course of nearly three decades in the business has created many top-selling and top-producing lures. He partnered with top tournament angler Toshiro “Ty” Ono to form the company. As noted above, they subsequently enlisted Arakawa to run US marketing and distribution. In addition to Wolak, the Jackall Bassmaster Elite Series team consists of Kota Kiriyama, Cliff Pace and Jared Lintner. Cody Meyer and Scott Canterbury are the two Jackall anglers fishing the FLW Tour.
