Congratulations Manuba Kurita! The monster bass he caught in July in Japan was certified by the IGFA as a tie to the current world record. He's not the solo record holder but he still put his name in the record books. I will think of this bass as the true world record as I am a little skeptical of George Perry's legendary bass. It took them six months to certify the catch but they did quite a bit to ensure that this catch was legit. He took a polygraph and passed. They also did genetic samples to make sure this bass wasn't a triploid or some other hybrid bass. You can read the entire press release on their website.
