After almost two years of living in Florida and I finally caught my first redfish. It wasn't a big one, but it was a redfish. I had a great time fishing in the back bays of the gulf today and caught a bunch of trout, sheepshead and the one redfish. It was a nice day of fishing, but nothing can compare to a day of bass fishing. In alot of ways it was very similar to fishing for bass. We were using soft plastic baits, retrieving it along the bottom and fishing dropoffs and weeds, the fish relate to cover much like bass do. It is still pretty cold in the gulf so fish like snook aren't really turned on yet. I am looking forward to catching a few of those this summer.
