One of my favorite ways to catch bass is by punching mats with a Paycheck Punch Skirt and a Sweet Beaver. Living in Florida, I am able to do this year round and catch some big fish doing it. FLWOutdoors.com has a great article about the punch skirt and tips on how to punch heavy cover. One great piece of advice I enjoyed was about weight sizes, it said “if you go too light, you’ll have to fight the bait through the grass,”
Johnston said. “What happens is you don’t get that natural fall. The
fish can see and feel your bait and you don’t get that reaction strike.
