Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0: First Thoughts

I've been a fan of the Veritas lineup from the beginning. They are quality rods, very light and most importantly they are affordable. The new Veritas 2.0 looks and feels even better without an increase in cost.

Slightly different designs and new ratcheted reel seat

Increased break strength by 22%

They have adjusted the look slightly but still kept the white color. The biggest improvements they made was increasing the break strength and adding a new ratcheted reel seat. These were my two biggest complaints about the first version; the reel seat would come loose every once in a while and I have broke a few of them. Time will tell how much stronger they are, but so far they get my approval. They are still just $99.99 at Tackle Warehouse.

Here are a few other improvements:

  • New Spiral Carbon Core blank technology has also increased their break strength on an average of 22% and tip strength by 30% with no increase in rod weight.
  • Titanium frame guides with Zirconia inserts help increase casting distance and accuracy, while providing excellent durability.
  • New ratcheted reel seats form a solid lightweight base for your reel with a high end look and feel
