This weekend was all about spinnerbaits on Lake Istokpoga and everyone was throwing them. On Day 1, I was using a Death Shimmer spinnerbait with a trailer hook and never missed a fish. My partner for the day was fishing without a trailer hook and missed a few fish. He caught more fish than I did, but my landing percentage was better. It also seemed like my trailer hook was catching more hyrdilla than his was without the trailer hook. I personally use a trailer hook 100% of the time for that extra confidence that any fish that bites will get hooked. Could it ever work against you? I don't know but I am going to stick with the trailer hook.
