What's wrong with Skeet Reese?

Skeet Reese has been at the top of bass fishing for the last few years now.  Winning the Classic and Angler of the Year (should have won at least one more if the Bassmaster "Postseason" wasn't in place).  His season last year was probably the best season Bassmaster has ever seen.  This season, he has been missing from the limelight.

Zero Day 4 Cuts, 67th in the Points, a finish of 93rd earlier this year, and really just an absence in any coverage. What's really going on with him?  Maybe this is an off year for him, a slump, who knows, but it seems like the Skeet Reese of old is nowhere to be found.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?  I hope it's an off year, I miss seeing that Black and Yellow on the big stage.

Tyler, you know tournament fish, I tournament fish. there are those times when you just cant do any thing right. I know I have had them, maybe you have? it looks to me like thats what is going on, he turn left instead of right goes north instead of south, looses a fish he should have caught or just had some bad luck. I know from expirance, sight the federation tourny a month or so ago when things start going wrong they start to compile and you get lost in your errors and start to press. I think that has happened to him, he will get it all straight and hopefully in time to win one of the last two to make the classic.

Tyler,
Ive been watching the situation with Skeet as well. Doesnt look good compared to the last few years. He might have a year or 2 tough fishing after the awesome year he had, but he surely needs to step his game up....an angler at his level runs out of excuses quickly Im afraid. He knows that and Im sure he will try his best to finish the year on a better note. I spoke to Marty Stone a couple months ago and wanted to ask him what was up with his status....super nice guy so I decided not to push, but his fishing fell way off....so did his sponsorships I believe.......

I have noticed it too. I also miss seeing him on stage alot more. I figured after last year he would be a contender every event agian. I know last year it seemed like he could not do anything wrong. Larry what kind of sponsorship trouble is he having? It seems like after last year he would have been bombarded with sponsorship offers. Are they pulling out now that he is struggling?

It seems like all of you guys noticed and probably agree that it's probably just a slump.

@ Chris McDonald,
Sorry man...I may have misled you. I was talking about Marty Stone. Just bringing up another Lucky Craft angler who struggled and now isnt fishing the Elite series....of course, Marty Stone never achieved what Skeet Reese has.....I truly believe that Skeet Reese will pull through this slump....hopefully, he's really good for the sport. Huge fan base for Skeet !!!

Here is what Skeet is saying..West Point and Lake Murray are behind us, and I’m still getting the question; “what’s wrong with Skeet?”. http://advancedangler.com/SkeetBlog.asp

Thanks for sharing Jason. It was good to hear his take on the last few events.
